Joan
specialises in large watercolours. Many of her works have been
published, she exhibits in National Exhibitions, and is a member
of the Society of Botanical Artists.
Joan was a head of department in a Central London Comprehensive,
also a visiting tutor at the Sir John Cass School of Art and a
visiting tutor at he Victoria and Albert Museum for many years.
Slides of her work are held in the Women's Art Library, Fulham
Palace, and transparencies at the Bridgeman Art Library, London.
Born
in Yorkshire, Joan's two year training at the Barnsley School of
Art was followed by three years at the Slade School, London
University, where she received a Summer Exhibition Prize, a
Goldsmith's Company Travel Award to study in Florence, and a
degree in Fine Art.
Joan was co-founder of Five Women Artists Plus, an exhibiting
group of some 24 Women Artists who have presented to date 37
exhibitions in and around London.
Some 300 of Joan's paintings of flowers, gardens, flowers in
landscape, and flowers with decorative china and fabrics are
in private and public collections. Her images have been
extensively used for greeting cards and large poster prints for
the international market.
